Universal Studios Singapore is building new Transformers ride

Universal Studios is going to develop a new theme park ride based on its super hit movie, Transformers. The new ride will be installed at Resorts World at Sentosa. The park will open up in 2010 and the ride will debut at Universal Studios Singapore in 2011. It was jointly developed by Universal Parks and Resorts, Hasbro and Dreamworks Pictures. The Resorts World at Sentosa will pay the money to build this ride. The ride will fuse “3D-HD” media, special effects and robotics technology and it will show human beings caught in a war between Autobots and Decepticons. Universal Studios Singapore will house 24 rides and 18 of them are specifically designed for the theme park.

Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO, Universal Parks & Resorts said that Transformers would be a jewel in their collection of world-class rides based on great movies. Tan Hee Teck, CEO, Resorts World at Sentosa said:

“It is great that Asia will be the launch pad for the first Transformers attraction. Transformers was introduced to the United States in 1983 but traces its roots to Asia. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron are familiar names to Asian audiences, who grew up with the robot toys and love the movie. When Transformers opens in Universal Studios Singapore in 2011, it will be the first of its kind in the world. We may see a surge of Transformers mania.”

Transformers, the live-action films based on the struggle of two robotic races grossed $706.5 million worldwide and became the highest grossing movie of 2007. Steven Spielberg was the executive producer of the movie. Transformers stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. The sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will be released in June 2009.
