Heath Ledger's portrayal of Joker in The Dark Knight impresses critics

Heath Ledger, the brilliant actor died in January 2008 from drug overdose. In The Dark Knight, Heath played the character of Joker, the arch nemesis of Batman. It was his last complete performance. Already, critics have liked his performance as Joker. Many are saying that it was Heath’s great performance and he might win a posthumous Oscar. According to Christian Bale, Joker is the mirror reflection of Batman. He is the ugly side of Batman. According to Bale, Heath was an wonderful person and a talented actor. The way he portrayed Joker on the screen it is not really possible to separate the actor from the character. Viewers would not feel that they are seeing an actor but the real joker. As long as he was in front of the camera, he was a great actor but off the camera, he was a great guy to be with.

Born on April 4 1979, Heath Ledger started his career in Australian television. Ledger's older sister, Kate, an actress and publicist, encouraged him to act on stage. In 1996, he first appeared in TV Series Sweat. He played the role of a gay cyclist. In 1999, he got his first taste of success with the Fox movie, 10 Things I Hate about You.
